2011-2012 Preschool Scholarship
Preschool
Scholarships are scholarships to
assist area families with preschool costs. Families are required
to meet specific guidelines and criteria in order to qualify for
assistance. Preschool scholarships will pay up to $155/$135 per
month for monthly preschool tuition.
Preschool scholarship families are responsible for any monthly preschool
cost exceeding the $155/$135 per month.
Preschool scholarships are available to families with children ages
3-5. Scholarships will provide financial assistance to families
that qualify through an application process.
Preschool assistance is available for up to $155 for 0% to 100% of poverty and $135 for 100% to 200% of poverty per month per child attending preschool. A maximum of $1,395/school year per child will be awarded. If your income falls between 100% to 200% of poverty a $20.00 parent portion must be paid to the preschool. An invoice, which you must sign, is submitted each month from the preschool provider that your child attends and payment is made directly to that provider. You are responsible for any remaining amount due.
Please note that you must fit in this criteria to be eligible
for Preschool assistance:

Be a resident of Cerro Gordo, Hancock or Worth Counties

Not be receiving preschool assistance from any other source

Have income level below 200% of poverty (see chart below)

use a licensed or registered preschool

Be paying preschool cost seperate from childcare (childcare including preschool is not eligible)
Income Guidelines:
To know if you meet financial requirements, and if you need to pay a parent portion, please look for the number of members in your family and the corresponding gross annual income (income before deductions or taxes) in the chart below.

$20.00 parent portion paid to the preschool, remaining up to $135 per month will be paid for the scholarship to the preschool.

Your family’s total gross income must fall in the guidelines above to be eligible for the scholarship with no parent portion to be paid.
How much assistance may I apply for?
Financial
assistance is available up to $155 per month for children attending
preschool deppending on your income.
Scholarship amounts will vary based on the cost of the preschool
your child is attending. The scholarship will reimburse
the preschool for the monthly costs, up to the $155 allowed each
month or $135 pre month. If monthly costs exceed $155/$135, you will be responsible
for the additional monthly expense. Scholarships will be
awarded to assist with preschool costs during the 2011-2012 school
year.
How does the program work?
A
bill must be submitted each month for the preschool that your
child attends. We will pay the monthly costs (up to $155/$135)
to the preschool. You are responsible for any remaining
amount.
